“I have found the Book…”

“Go inquire of Yehowah for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found; for great is the wrath of Yehowah that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that which is written concerning us.” – King Josiah [2 Kings 22; 2 Chronicles 34]

God made agreements/covenants with people, throughout the ages, to provide all they needed and more. In return they needed only to be obedient to YHWH. As a result, there was a mutual “ownership”; as a wife owns her husband and a husband owns his wife; as parents own their children; YHWH would be their God and they would be His people.

God’s “house rules” were constantly undermined by His people. Constantly, his people reasoned and thought they knew better. Gradually, they eroded their dedication to God by disobeying God’s instructions. They replaced God’s instructions with their own traditions. They made leaders for themselves and followed those leaders even when the leaders disagreed with the instructions that came directly from YHWH.

Kings Hezekiah and Josiah, once they learned directly from God’s instructions, ruled against these evil practices. They dismantled the traditions of men in favor of obeying YHWH’s instructions.

Yehoshua of Nazareth taught against those practices, and demonstrated and taught throughout his life, even unto death, that we can and must following YHWH’s instructions.
