The Blind Lead the Blind

“You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.” — Y’shua of Nazareth

There are many “learned” folks who know (or should know) better than to follow and perpetuate the traditions and doctrines of their denominations. They know (or at least have suspicions) that much of what they say and preach doesn’t come from God, yet they perpetuate those traditions and doctrines.

Nowadays, many have turned to preaching (as if it comes from God) psychology, philosophy, and poetic sociology because its what their listeners want to hear. They are afraid to teach the truth for fear of losing their prestige, their jobs — afraid of rejection, ridicule or being branded a heretic.

Still, others go on perpetuating the falsehoods because they are ignorant of the truth having never prayerfully studied the Bible and about the Bible in depth. To make matters worse, when they do read or study they do so within their denominational doctrine —  designed to perpetuate traditions created by men.  It is like wearing sunglasses of ignorance over their eyes, never able to break free of the darkness. They stumble about and lead others to do likewise – ‘blind leading the blind.’

This is nothing new. Sadly, they continue; learned and ignorant alike, and those who trust in their leadership suffer – lacking knowledge of the truth – perishing.

And he [Jesus] said to them, “Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,

This people honors me with their lips,
but their heart is far from me;
in vain do they worship me,
teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.

You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”
And he said to them, “You have a fine way of rejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition. [Mark Ch 7]
